Isn’t my PC good for even browsing the web?

Ahh, looking back in time, Windows Vista made me feel for once that a few years from now, my PC wouldn’t even be good for doing daily stuff like say copying files or listening to music. As far as I see this trend, things are looking very bad in the near future with applications trading off performance with eye candy in the most innefficient barter that I have ever witnessed. Sheesh! Now, my PC isn’t even fit for browsing the web with this new browser that AT&T came up with a name ripped off from a stupid channel called Pogo! Presenting you the AT&T Pogo, a browser which I dare not download until I have my PC running twice or thrice as fast as it already is…
The meagre system requirements of this revolutionary browser is a 1.6GHz processor, 2GB of RAM, and a video card with at least 256MB of VRAM. That according to me is several notches higher than my favorite game, Half Life Orange Box, which runs on my not-so-monstrous PC at 42fps at high quality! I am quite sure that this thing ain’t running on my PC and I am seriously not interested in it.
I wonder what kind of customers/users AT&T targets with such a browser. Anyway, if you are interested, give it a shot here. And, before you start downloading it, you first need to sign up through an elaborate ceremony. It even has an invitation based system. So that means that before downloading this, you need to fill up some shitty forms. So it is always better if you can find a torrent for this… Here is what Ars(e) Technica says about the same thing - First Look at AT&T’s Pogo. In my opinion, they wasted a lot of intellectual time of developers with the creation of this behemoth.
BTW, the promotional video/demo on their website, here is amazing. They have done brilliant work with the screencasting part and merging it with a video featuring a laptop with multiple perspectective views. Check it out if you think you have enough bandwidth to spare…
And well, I admit that I saw it… ![]()
